The exam was introduced in 2022 as a single-window opportunity for students to apply to multiple central universities.

Exam Pattern

The CUET is a computer-based test (CBT) conducted in three sections:

  • Section 1A (Language Test): This section is compulsory for all candidates and assesses their proficiency in one of 13 languages: Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.

  • Section 1B (Domain-Specific Subjects): This section is optional and assesses candidates’ knowledge in their chosen domain-specific subjects. The available subjects are: Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, General Studies, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, and Commerce.

  • Section 2 (Language Test): This section is optional and assesses candidates’ proficiency in a language other than the one chosen in Section 1A.
